Crowns and Bridges

At Avondale Dental Centre, our goal is to help patients achieve optimum oral health with the personalised care we provide.

We will always explain all of your options for treatment and provide you with the information you need to make the best choices. We also offer CAD/CAM digital technology for same-day crowns, eliminating the need for a temporary restoration and the wait time from the lab.

Comprehensive dentistry includes repairing damaged teeth and replacing missing teeth so that patients can eat and smile with confidence. Two restorative treatments we offer are dental crowns and dental bridges. While the procedure for crown and bridge restorations are similar, they serve two different purposes.

Dental Crowns to Repair and Protect Teeth

Dental decay and damage can destabilise a tooth and put it at risk. When possible, we strive to repair natural teeth, as it is typically the most affordable and least complicated way to protect oral health.

Dental crowns offer a solution after damage from advanced decay or fractures or to rebuild worn teeth. Unlike dental fillings, crowns cover the entire structure of the tooth and protect it from the forces caused by chewing.

The appropriate material for the dental crown depends on the patient’s bite and the location of the crown. Many patients prefer tooth-coloured restorations for front teeth since they are visible when you smile. In some cases, porcelain and metal blends or full gold crowns will offer greater longevity on molars.

Same-Day Crown Procedure

Patient comfort is a top priority for all of our dentists. Advancements in the delivery of anaesthetic make it possible for patients to have a pain-free experience. We also offer sedation dentistry options for patients who have anxiety about their visit.

Taking an x-ray of the area will ensure that a dental crown is a proper treatment for the damaged tooth.

Dr Najar, Dr Crum or Dr Nekrutenk will begin by removing decay and damaged tooth structure and making space for the dental crown to fit over the tooth. Next, a digital impression will capture the size and shape of the crown required and proper colour matching, identified with a shade guide, will ensure your crown looks natural.

We offer CEREC crowns in our clinic, eliminating the wait time caused by sending restorations to a dental lab. Your crown will be fabricated using CAD/CAM technology in our surgery during your visit.

Replacing a Missing Tooth with a Dental Bridge

A bridge requires similar steps to complete but will anchor an artificial tooth in place to complete the smile. Like crowns, we design dental bridges to complement your appearance with proper shading.

Dental bridges are a fixed option, meaning they will not move or shift as they are permanently cemented in place. Many patients find this preferable to a partial denture for the replacement of one or two teeth.

We will go over the special care necessary to keep your bridge and the surrounding gum tissue clean at your visit.
