Avondale Dental Centre offers orthodontic and Invisalign® evaluations for adults and children. While both options can correct crowded and misaligned teeth, there are differences in how they work. Additionally, you may prefer one over the other.

With options available, it isn't easy to make the right choice, which is why your Avondale dentist is here to help!

Please continue reading to learn more about Invisalign and braces, including their differences.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces are made of brackets and wires. The brackets are secured to the teeth and threaded with the wires. The dentist adjusts these wires every few weeks to slowly bring your teeth into position.

You cannot remove braces or wires on your own, and there are eating restrictions to protect the orthodontic system from damage.

Traditional braces are sometimes recommended for complex or severe orthodontic issues. They are the more common treatment for children.

Invisalign in Avondale, Auckland, is a series of clear tooth aligners that are popular because they are discreet! You wear each set of aligners for about 1-2 weeks before moving to the next.

You can remove your aligners to eat, brush, and floss your teeth. However, you should wear them for at least 22 hours daily for best results. With Invisalign, there are no food restrictions.

Invisalign is sometimes recommended for mild to moderate orthodontic issues. They are common for teens and adults.
